As the First Family of Gospel Music, Marvin, Carvin and Bebe Winans have combined vocals and forces before. But this time, they’ve branched out as a trio to release a new joint project as 3 Winans Brothers.

Their first album Foreign Land is out now. Call it a homegrown super group. But first, a little Winans family music history.

“The group was divided into age tiers,” says Marvin. “The big four, the older brothers became The Winans. Then there was a group called Winans Part 2, which was Bebe, Cece, Michael and Daniel. Michael became part of The Winans. Bebe and Cece had their group but then Cece went to PTL and Bebe followed her.”

“Foreign Land” is a song Marvin wrote years ago. He and Carvin did in concert together and they included it on the project and it became the title track. Their current single “Move In Me” includes cameos by Mike Tyson, Terry Crews, MC Hammer and Sugar Ray Leonard.

“I’m featured on pretty much all the songs,” says Carvin, who is apparently the least talkative of the three brothers.

Maybe he prefers speaking through the music, as he wrote three songs on the album including “I Choose You.”

Their song “God Be For Us” was prominently featured in the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the March On Washington and sung in front four living presidents – President George W. Bush, President Jimmy Carter, President Bill Clinton and President Obama.
