Estimated 35,000 Turn Out for Columbus Race for the Cure

This is such a great event that brings attention to a worth cause! According to Fox 28, gray skies and potential rain didn’t keep an estimated 35,000 men, women, boys and girls from all walks of life from turning out for Komen Columbus’ Race for the Cure.
One of Columbus’ biggest annual events, it raises money to aid in the fight against breast cancer.
Along with 10TV and NBC4 anchors, ABC6/FOX28’s Maria Durant emceed the Saturday morning event amid Downtown Columbus streets flooded with pink balloons, streamers, wigs, shirts, shorts, glasses, flags and any other pink-colored items participants could bring.
Many of the event’s festivities centered around the Ohio Statehouse and Columbus Commons areas located near High Street.
Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman took the stage to encourage and thank participants.
