Queen Latifah Lands Lead Role In Lee Daniels’ Next Project

Queen Latifah is showing entertainment who holds the crown. Coming off the cusp of her iconic Wiz Live! role, the Queen scored a leading role in Lee Daniels’ untitled project to air on Fox.

Lee Daniels is developing the Fox version of Shondaland, clearly.

Variety reports that the untitled show will go into production in Atlanta this month.

The plot revolves around three women who form a girl group in hopes of super-stardom. Latifah will play a beauty shop owner who becomes a surrogate mother to the group.

If picked up, the show will be featured in the 2016-2017 TV line up.

We are looking forward to the newest edition of Daniels’ Empire especially if it stars The Queen!

Anika Noni Rose Joins The Cast Of ‘Power’

Anika Noni Rose is going to be joining the cast of Power.

Deadline reports the Tony award winner will portray LaVerne Thomas, a cop coming from the same hood as Ghost (Omari Hardwick).

Anika is known of bringing authenticity to all her roles, from he sweet portrayal of Princess Tiana in The Princess & The Frog to Dream Girls.

The Starz series has been renewed for a ten-episode third season after winning record setting ratings for the network.

We are sure Rose’s performance will keep the momentum going.

Tia Mowry To Star Alongside Morris Chesnut In ‘Rosewood’ 

Tia Mowry will be starring alongside chocolate god Morris Chesnut  in Rosewood. 

The Game alumna will play a homeless teenage lesbian who changed her entire life.

The star explained to Huffington Post how she bodied the role:

“I just started to think about the time that volunteered at a homeless shelter years ago when I was in college. The homeless shelter had teens there,” she said. “I just remembered their experience and what they were going through, what their needs were, what their expectations were.”

Mowry took that experience, combined with the advice of some of her gay friend to just ‘be herself.’

When exactly her episode will air is still up in the air, but we are excited to see it!
