The King comes to NBA’s Stephen Curry’s defense when declining to go to the White House.
Since the Golden State Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavs in this year’s NBA Finals, Stephen Curry was one of the first to go public not wanting to go to the White House and celebrate as champions.
The entire team as a franchise has since agreed they will sit out the White House and meet President Donald Trump. That was months ago. Well, now Trump tweeted that Curry was invited.
Can you really uninvite someone who wasn’t going to show up in the first place? Didn’t think so and neither did LeBron James who came to defend Curry and his decision.
Didn’t take much for many athletes in NBA to public figures to regular people to drag the president following the tweet.
Of course, leave it to Trump to speak on something he doesn’t know much about. Players and championship teams not literally invited but instead carry on the tradition to go meet the sitting president. In many occasions, the team or champion would present the president with a gift in signs of respect.
Finally, the White House is the people’s house. People can come to the White House for tours with no invite. The president does not own the White House, it’s a temporary home, not the Trump Towers (thank God).
