Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Shooting at Gas Station

A 24-year-old man is facing a murder charge after allegedly shooting and killing someone who tried to steal his SUV at a north side gas station Thursday night.
Authorities say the incident happened just after 8PM at the Sunoco on Cleveland Avenue. When deputies and Clinton Township police arrived, they found a 30-year-old man shot in the chest. He was rushed to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in critical condition and died less than an hour later.
Detectives say Demetrius Ransom Jr. opened fire after the man tried to steal his Chevrolet Equinox, which had been left running and unattended in the parking lot. Ransom was arrested at the scene and is now being held in the Franklin County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 614-525-3351.
